Their nest not nearly finished, these two love birds, take time out to rub beaks and remind themselves of why they're doing all this hard work. Tommy Thompson Park is a man-made land structure that extends 5 kilometers into Lake Ontario, just south of downtown Toronto. It is more than 250 hectares in size. An important stopover for migratory birds, more than 300 species of birds have been documented at the park. In 2000, Tommy Thompson Park was declared a Globally Significant Important Bird Area by BirdLife International.
