A couple of weeks after the ice storm that hit Toronto just before Christmas of 2013, the temperatures rose and the ice and snow in Monarch Park began to melt. The water had nowhere to go as there was a layer of ice covering the frozen ground, creating very large ponds within the park. In the northeast corner of the park, the ground is a little higher, so this area featured more slush than puddles. The rare winter fog added an nice element to provide some very unusual photographic opportunities within a city park.

Many things catch my eye, including nature, landscapes, cityscapes, abstracts and people, but my favourite discoveries are often moments. As I walk, I keep my camera ready, adjusting settings as I go for changing light conditions, or in anticipation of a moment unfolding ahead of me. These moments can be fleeting and I like to be ready when they are.
