Description
Standing on the west bank of the Richelieu River in Vieux Beloeil, looking east across the Richelieu River at Mont Saint Hilaire, it is easy to imagine the view in the middle 1800s, dominated then as it still is by the church and steeple of Eglise de Mont Saint Hilaire. Founded in 1837, the church boast the oldest Casavant organ still in operation.
I shot this image with a bright sun overhead and little in my eyes, knowing I would need to use HDR software to salvage anything usable out of the extremes of bright sunlight and the shadows covering the mountain. In some respects, I'm happy with how this turned out as I feel this represents what I saw through squinted eyes, yet it doesn't quite seem natural. Maybe it doesn't seem natural as I tend not to look in the sun's direction all that long on bright sunny days.
