Artist's Description

A snowy January morning brought me out to shoot Toronto's "Flatiron" building. I wanted to shoot it in an unconventional way, if I could. I like this view from the north side of Front Street where a row of snow covered trees partially obstructs the view of the building, yet it remains immediately recognizable. It combines to make a nice set of four, along with images 14, 20 and 21 in this series.

One of the most photographed buildings in Toronto, the Gooderham "Flatiron" Building dates back to 1891-92. It was designed by Toronto architect David Roberts Jr. who was also responsible for a number of other Gooderham commissions, notably George Gooderham's houses at St. George and Bloor Streets (1889) and Jarvis Street (1891). About Rick Shea

Rick Shea

Full-time marketing & business development consultant, part-time photographer, lifetime lover of photography. I love to explore. Whether I'm exploring the world or in and around Toronto, I like to explore with my camera. Many things catch my eye, including nature, landscapes, cityscapes, abstracts and people, but my favourite discoveries are often moments. As I walk, I keep my camera ready, adjusting settings as I go for changing light conditions, or in anticipation of a moment unfolding ahead of me. These moments can be fleeting and I like to be ready when they are.
